Ashley Soughley PT, DPT, NCS received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2009 from the MGH Institute of Health Professions and quickly learned her passion lied with helping patient’s with neurological and vestibular diagnoses. She then went on to become a board certified Neurological Clinical Specialist, and an APTA Credentialed Vestibular Therapist.

Ashley has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, but it was the last 10 years as an outpatient physical therapist where she started to do more and more research on POTS. Since then she has been able to educate other clinicians, physicians and has given numerous educational presentations on the treatment and management of POTS initially throughout the Boston area - and recently expanding nation-wide.

It wasn’t until early 2022 when she suffered her own bout of POTS which was one of the hardest illnesses to battle while trying to maintain a somewhat normal life. She put herself through an individualized exercise program and implemented symptom management strategies - just like she has her patients do - and got to a state of “remission”

It was in these moments where she realized just how debilitating the diagnosis really is, what her current patients are experiencing, and how important exercise is in the management of symptoms. She could no longer let other patients living with POTS suffer this much, or wait 2 years to get into see autonomic neurology specialists, and thus, Rise Above POTS, LLC was born.

Ashley strives to help patients suffering with POTS and other symptoms of dysautonomia get their lives back by getting their symptoms under control. She holds a special interest in helping athletes who have been diagnosed with POTS post-concussion and after various viral illnesses.

When she’s not nerding out to all things neurology, vestibular or dysautonomia-related, she is a mom of 3 young and busy children ages 10, 9 and 5, and what you may call a “half-ass hippy” who enjoys good gluten-free food, good coffee, music and drinks. In her spare time she enjoys exercise, running races, teaching Les Mills BodyPump classes, surfing, and spending time at the beach, hiking, and being outdoors.
